NEW DELHI: Singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh on Tuesday met BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh and discussed the growing drug menace in Punjab, with both stressing the need to protect the state’s youth from addiction.After the meeting, Honey Singh said drugs were destroying families and affecting the younger generation in Punjab. “Drugs are ruining families and youth in Punjab. Punjab must be saved from this,” the singer said.Tarun Chugh said Honey Singh, who enjoys massive popularity among young audiences, could play an important role in spreading awareness against substance abuse.“Yo Yo Honey Singh is a son of Punjab who has made a name for himself worldwide. I have requested Honey Singh to use his songs and words to motivate the youth of Punjab to give up drugs. He has promised me that we will save Punjab. If Honey Singh can make a comeback, so can you,” Chugh said.Later, Chugh also shared details of the meeting on his official X handle saying a meaningful discussion took place on the resolve to make the state drug-free.“The campaign to unite every section of society to free Punjab from the web of drugs is continuously moving forward,” Chugh wrote.(With agency inputs)
