A major political development is unfolding in Karnataka as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar arrived in New Delhi for crucial discussions with the Congress high command amid growing speculation over a possible leadership change in the state government.

The high-level meeting at Congress headquarters, Indira Bhavan, includes senior party leaders such as Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala. The discussions are expected to focus on the ongoing power tussle within the Karnataka Congress, Cabinet reshuffle plans, and the future leadership structure of the state.

Political speculation has intensified after the Congress government in Karnataka completed three years in office earlier this month. Supporters of DK Shivakumar have once again revived claims of a reported “power-sharing agreement” under which Shivakumar was expected to take over as Chief Minister after Siddaramaiah’s initial term. However, Siddaramaiah has repeatedly stated that he intends to complete a full five-year tenure as Chief Minister.

The Delhi visit has triggered fresh political buzz across Karnataka. Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar were seen attending back-to-back meetings with the Congress leadership. According to reports, Rahul Gandhi also held separate discussions with both leaders as the party attempts to resolve internal differences before they affect governance and the party’s public image.

Apart from leadership discussions, the Congress leadership is also likely to review the state government’s performance, upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, and a possible Cabinet reshuffle. Sources indicate that Siddaramaiah is pushing for changes in the ministry to improve regional and caste representation, while Shivakumar’s camp is seeking clarity on the Chief Ministerial issue before any reshuffle takes place.

Several senior Karnataka ministers, including G Parameshwara, Satish Jarkiholi, MB Patil, and HC Mahadevappa, also reached Delhi ahead of the crucial meeting, underlining the seriousness of the political situation.

Meanwhile, opposition BJP leaders have targeted the Congress over the internal conflict, accusing the ruling party of focusing more on power struggles than governance. BJP leaders claim the ongoing uncertainty could weaken the Congress government ahead of future elections.

As of now, the Congress leadership has not made any official announcement regarding a leadership change. However, political observers believe the outcome of the Delhi meetings could play a crucial role in shaping Karnataka politics in the coming months.
