CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: An attempt by a couple to prevent their 18-year-old son from jumping off a dangerous cliff at Khavyda Dongar ended in tragedy on Friday, resulting in the deaths of all three family members after they plunged into a deep stone quarry.The incident occurred around noon after nearly three hours of efforts by police, fire brigade personnel, relatives and local residents to persuade the youth to move away from the edge.According to eyewitness and former Tisgaon sarpanch Sanjay Jadhav, the youth reached the upper part of Khavyda Dongar around 10am following a family dispute and stood close to the precipice.His parents and local residents reached the spot soon after, followed by police and fire brigade personnel.The youth repeatedly threatened to jump, prompting those present to make sustained efforts to persuade him to return to safety.The youth continued moving along the dangerous edge despite the appeals.Fire brigade personnel kept a safety net ready below, while his parents remained engaged in trying to bring him back.Around 1pm, he suddenly fell into the quarry. His father immediately tried to reach out to pull him back but lost his balance and fell.The mother, who witnessed the fall, also plunged into the quarry moments later, Jadhav said.
