‘Lal Qila ta nishana hove ga’: Delhi HC gets bomb threat day before Independence-Day

A bomb threat email was received at the Delhi High Court on Friday morning.

NEW DELHI: A bomb threat was received at the Delhi high court through an email on Friday at around 11.43am, prompting authorities to activate the standard operating procedure (SOP) and carry out extensive security checks on the premises.The threatening email reportedly mentioned August 15 and contained the warning, “Lal Qila ta nishana hove ga” (the Red Fort will be targeted). The email also made a reference to those carrying out the bombing being dressed in khaki, apparently hinting at uniformed personnel being part of the alleged operation.Following the threat, the Registrar General of the Delhi high court remained in touch with the Delhi Police. Security measures were intensified at the court complex, with thorough checks carried out across the premises.A bomb disposal squad, sniffer dog teams and fire personnel were deployed as part of the security response. The premises were searched extensively, but no suspicious object or explosive material was found.The threat was subsequently declared a hoax by the authorities.The security alert comes a day ahead of Independence Day, with security agencies already maintaining heightened vigilance across the national capital.
