Jana Nayagan Movie Review and Release Highlights: Vijay-starrer grosses over Rs 31 crore

To that extent, I genuinely enjoyed the experience. But I couldn’t enjoy the film itself. I couldn’t help but compare it to #bhagavanthkesari. Having already watched #nbk in that story, it was difficult to imagine #vijay in a similar setup. It made me realize how well and how sensibly #anilravipudi handled that film. It’s evident that Vijay chose this story considering his political journey. But instead of sticking to the core story, the makers stretched and altered it in several places to add extra political mileage. The first half feels heavily inspired by Bhagavanth Kesari, except for Bobby Deol’s portions. The second half is mostly different, barring a couple of scenes here and there, but it still doesn’t leave a strong impact. More importantly, the religious references and political moments may work for the Tamil Nadu audience, but they don’t really connect with us. Even the climax left me wondering why so much money was spent it felt like watching Robot. It almost seemed as if the makers went overboard simply because they had a producer willing to spend without limits. Every time #bobbydeol appeared on screen, it was nothing but bloodshed and violence. Vijay, on the other hand, does complete justice to his role. His screen presence is as magnetic as ever, and since this is his final film, fans will thoroughly enjoy his dances and action sequences. Bobby Deol’s characterization feels very confusing. #poojahegde is just okay. #mamithabaiju reminds you of Sreeleela in several moments. #anirudhravichander’s music and BGM are good. Director #hvinoth appears to have modified the original story extensively to suit Vijay’s image and political positioning. Overall, Jana Nayagan is a film meant primarily for the Tamil Nadu audience.”
