Jailer 2 Box Office Collection Day 1 Updates: Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated action-thriller Jailer 2, the sequel to his 2023 hit Jailer, hit theatres on October 15. The film has opened to a strong response at the box office, surpassing the original’s opening-day collection of Rs 48.35 crore. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Jailer 2 earned Rs 59.70 crore net in India on its first day, across 16,599 shows. Its worldwide gross collection stands at Rs 125.25 crore.
On Thursday, Jailer 2 earned Rs 43.35 crore net from 9,326 shows in Tamil, while its Telugu version collected Rs 12.50 crore across 2,792 shows. The Hindi version contributed Rs 3.50 crore from 4,371 shows, while the Kannada version earned Rs 0.35 crore across 110 shows. The Tamil version recorded an overall occupancy of 75.44%, with morning shows registering 71.77%, afternoon shows 65.31%, evening shows 75.08% and night shows 89.62%, according to Sacnilk

Beyond its box office performance, Jailer 2 has garnered positive reactions. An excerpt from SCREEN’s review of Jailer 2 read, “Regardless of everything, Nelson has once again shown to the world, including the superstar’s critics, that ‘You may not like him, but you can’t deny — Rajinikanth’s got style.’ At one point in the movie, we hear only the sound of his boots, and we immediately recognise it as a nod to Baashha (1995). That’s Rajinism. When he stands in the middle of the shot, absorbing the essence of everything around him and delivering pure aura, one can’t help but quote himself: ‘Frame parunga ji!’”
It remains to be seen whether Jailer 2 can sustain its strong opening amid competition from Ajay Devgn-starrer Drishyam 3, Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar, and Vidyut Jammwal’s debut Hollywood film Street Fighter.

He wrote, “Jailer 2 delivers a phenomenal opening at the box office, collecting approximately Rs 56 crore net in India across all languages. In Hindi, the film has performed well, earning around Rs 3 crore net despite not releasing in major chains like PVR INOX, Cinepolis and Mirage. The all-India gross stands at approximately Rs 68 crore, while the worldwide Day 1 collection is around Rs 125 crore. At 76, Rajinikanth continues to smash box office records! With exceptional word of mouth, the film is poised for a massive opening weekend at both the Indian and overseas box offices.”
Jailer 2 Box Office Day 2: Rajinikanth-starrer collects Rs 5.26 crore by 11 am
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 collected Rs 5.26 crore India net on Day 2 by 11 am, according to trade website Sacnilk. The film was running across 3,569 shows, with the Tamil version contributing Rs 4.11 crore from 1,978 shows, followed by Telugu at Rs 0.89 crore from 506 shows and Hindi at Rs 0.26 crore from 1,085 shows. With these early estimates, the film’s total India net collection has reached Rs 64.96 crore, while its India gross collection stands at Rs 76.46 crore.

Trade siter Sacnilk shared that Jailer 2 recorded approximately 37.47 lakh theatrical footfalls across 16,599 shows in India on its opening day. Tamil Nadu led the domestic business with a gross collection of Rs 24 crore, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (APTG) and Karnataka, which contributed Rs 14.50 crore each. Kerala added another Rs 12.50 crore to the film’s opening-day total.

Soundarya Rajinikanth praised her father, superstar Rajinikanth, and director Nelson Dilipkumar after watching Jailer 2. Calling the film a “sensational blockbuster”, she celebrated her father’s 51 years in cinema and lauded Anirudh Ravichander’s music and the film’s powerful elevations.
Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, Soundarya wrote, “Thalaivar is an emotion not just for me, but for everyone who loves him. It’s something words can’t describe; you can only feel it. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala has reported that Jailer 2 has created a record for Tamil cinema by selling 1.32 million tickets on BookMyShow on its opening day alone. Sharing the milestone on X, he wrote, “History rewritten by superstar Rajinikanth! Jailer 2 creates an all-time record for Kollywood with a massive 1.32 million tickets sold on BookMyShow on Day 1 alone!” He further hailed the superstar’s box office pull, declaring, “The superstar storm is unstoppable!”

Jailer 2 has registered an excellent advance booking response for its second day in Hindi, with sales reportedly nearly double those of its opening day, as shared on X by trade analyst Manoz Kumar. The post read, “Jailer 2 (Hindi) – Excellent advance for 2nd day. Almost double of what it has fetched on opening day….Rajinikanth’s Super-Stardon + terrific word of mouth is translating into a bigger footfalls in Hindi ! 8-10cr net Hindi on 2nd day.”

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 recorded an India net collection of Rs 59.70 crore and a domestic gross of Rs 70.25 crore on its opening day. Jailer 2 recorded a worldwide gross of Rs 125.25 crore. In comparison, S. Shankar’s 2018 sci-fi film 2.0, starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, collected around Rs 60.25 crore net in India on Day 1, while its worldwide opening-day gross was estimated at Rs 110-115 crore.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has failed to surpass Coolie’s opening-day worldwide box office collection. While Coolie grossed Rs 151.75 crore worldwide on Day 1, Jailer 2 recorded a worldwide gross of Rs 125.25 crore. This puts Coolie ahead by Rs 26.50 crore in the opening-day worldwide collection comparison. In India, Jailer 2 collected Rs 70.25 crore gross and Rs 59.70 crore net on its opening day. Coolie (2025) recorded an India net collection of Rs 65 crore on its opening day, while its domestic gross stood at around Rs 77 crore. Coolie continues to be Rajinikanth’s top-grossing opening film ever.

Superstar Rajinikanth misses 100cr net club in Hindi after 2.0. Disheartening to see such a Bad release plan for any big film which is receiving such a fabulous abulous response from Hindi.”
Jailer 2 North America Box Office Day 1: Film Grosses $567K, eyes $650K Opening
Jailer 2 has grossed $567,000 in North America from 352 locations as of 7 pm PST on Day 1, as shared by Venky Box Office on X. The Tamil version leads with $465,500, followed by the Telugu version at $100,000 and the Hindi version at $1,500. The film has witnessed excellent night walk-ins and is expected to finish close to $650,000. However, the Telugu version is still lagging, and a pickup over the weekend could help the Rajinikanth-starrer post sensational numbers.

Jailer 2 has entered the top five highest-grossing Tamil films of 2026 worldwide, with a gross collection of Rs 125.25 crore. The film ranks fifth on the list, behind Jana Nayagan, which leads with Rs 327.2 crore, followed by Karuppu at Rs 314.79 crore, Vishwanath & Sons at Rs 212.23 crore and Mandaadi at Rs 138.19 crore.
