Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei said on Sunday that Washington’s response to Tehran’s seven conditions for reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz was “insufficient”, Iranian state media reported.Rezaei said the United States had accepted some of Iran’s conditions, while others remained unclear. He added that Washington needed to clarify the outstanding issues.Iran had proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz and resuming negotiations on its nuclear programme within seven days, provided the United States lifted its naval blockade of Iranian ports, waived sanctions on Iranian oil sales and observed a ceasefire that would also cover Lebanon.Earlier, Iranian foreign minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said Tehran would respond to a US peace proposal for the West Asia conflict “within the next few days”, amid reports that Washington was preparing military options for a possible resumption of major combat operations against Iran.Speaking after attending an event, Araghchi said negotiations between Tehran and Washington were continuing, with messages being exchanged through mediators.“The negotiation process is still ongoing, and messages are being exchanged through mediators,” Araghchi said, according to Iranian state broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).He added that Tehran had presented its proposal, known as the “Seven-Day Plan”, last month and had received Washington’s views on it.“We presented our plan, which we had presented under the title “Seven-Day Plan,” and we also heard the American side’s views on it,” Araghchi said.
