This comes as Congress is gearing up for a massive show of strength at the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on November 1. On Friday, the opposition is also preparing for a “public impeachment” of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during a mock parliament at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence. On Wednesday, INDIA bloc representatives alleged that the revision had disproportionately affected poor workers, tenants and residents of unauthorised settlements, and demanded the restoration of eligible voters’ names. The opposition also flagged alleged irregularities in voter records and called for a return to ballot paper-based elections, claiming the exercise risked disenfranchising legitimate voters.
