NEW DELHI: IndiGo on Friday said that a woman passenger was declared “unruly” and handed over to security agencies after allegedly damaging airport property worth Rs 49,000 following the cancellation of a flight from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata due to a technical snag.In a statement, IndiGo said flight 6E 7352, scheduled to operate from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata on August 13, was cancelled after a technical issue was detected during the aircraft’s mandatory pre-departure inspection.“IndiGo flight 6E 7352, scheduled to operate from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata on August 13, 2026, was cancelled due to a technical snag identified during the mandatory pre-departure inspection of the aircraft,” the IndiGo spokesperson said in a statement.“We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers and took all efforts to minimise the same including offering them regular updates, refreshments, accommodation and alternate travel options or full refunds as applicable. During this, one of the customers who caused damage to the airport property was declared unruly and handed over to relevant security agencies in line with standard operating procedures,” the statement read.The alleged incident took place around 6pm at Biju Patnaik International Airport’s departure lounge in the presence of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), IndiGo and Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials.The AAI alleged the woman damaged a monitor, keyboard and passport-swiping machine, causing an estimated loss of Rs 49,000.A video purportedly showing the incident has also surfaced on social media. The footage shows a heated altercation at the airport and alleged damage to airport infrastructure following the flight cancellation.
