‘300+ calls and counting’: CJP’s Saurav Das alleges Delhi Police leaked his number ahead of Jantar Mantar stir
Saurav Das, a spokesperson for Cockroach Janta Party, reported that his phone number has been leaked

NEW DELHI: ‘I have been bombarded with relentless phone calls (300+ and counting)’, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das on Saturday alleged that Delhi Police had leaked his phone number while circulating documents related to the party’s previous protest and its latest letter denying permission for a proposed protest at Jantar Mantar. He said he had received more than 300 calls and numerous WhatsApp messages within an hour.In a post on X, Das said, “As part of what appears to be a coordinated campaign, my phone number has been leaked, and I have been bombarded with relentless phone calls (300+ and counting) and WhatsApp messages over the past hour alone”.“The number was leaked by the Delhi Police while circulating the undertaking form from our previous protest and its latest letter rejecting permission,” Saurav said.Criticising media organisations for circulating the documents without concealing his number, Das said, “Special thanks to the ever-compliant media organisations, specifically an infamous agency I’m told, that couldn’t be bothered to redact my number before breathlessly circulating these documents on social media, as though they laid their hands on the Pentagon Papers!”Meanwhile, Delhi Police has tightened security across the national capital ahead of the CJP’s proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged voter-list manipulation during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.Earlier, police denied permission for the demonstration, citing insufficient notice and alleged violations of directions issued during an earlier protest. Joint Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad said the application was submitted on October 7, just three days before the proposed gathering, whereas the prescribed notice period is at least 10 days.Around 25,000 police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed across Delhi, while entry and exit restrictions have been imposed at 45 metro stations. Security has also been tightened at the capital’s borders, railway stations, bus terminals and other sensitive locations.
