The West Bengal government has decided to participate in the upcoming NITI Aayog meeting after staying away from the forum for several years. The move is being seen as an important step toward improving cooperation and communication between the state government and the Centre.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is expected to focus on key national issues including economic growth, infrastructure development, agriculture, healthcare, and state-level policy coordination. West Bengal’s participation signals a possible shift toward stronger Centre-State engagement despite past political disagreements.
For the last few years, the state government had often skipped NITI Aayog meetings citing concerns over federal policies and financial matters. However, officials now say participating in the discussions will help raise important issues related to West Bengal’s development and funding needs directly before the central leadership.
Political observers believe the decision could help improve administrative coordination and create opportunities for better cooperation on development projects and investment initiatives in the state.
The upcoming meeting is expected to bring together Chief Ministers and senior officials from across the country to discuss India’s long-term economic and governance priorities.
