India is witnessing an intense heatwave as temperatures continue to rise sharply across several parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red, orange, and yellow alerts for many states in north, central, and eastern India, warning people to take precautions against extreme heat conditions.

According to IMD forecasts, states including Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and parts of Madhya Pradesh are expected to experience very high temperatures over the next few days. In several regions, temperatures have crossed 45°C, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.

The IMD stated that dry weather conditions and strong sunlight are intensifying the heatwave. Authorities have advised people to avoid going outside during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and reduce outdoor activities whenever possible.

Hospitals in some states have also been placed on alert as cases of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and sunstroke are expected to rise. Meanwhile, increased use of air conditioners and cooling systems has pushed electricity demand to record levels in many cities.

The weather department expects heatwave conditions to continue in several regions this week, with only limited chances of relief through isolated rainfall in some areas.
