OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s home attacked, second time in two days; here's what Police said

San Francisco police have arrested two people after shots were reportedly fired outside the home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in the early hours of Sunday morning, just 48 hours after a separate firebomb attack on the same property. According to a report by The San Francisco Standard, at around 1:40 am PT on April 12, a Honda sedan with two people inside drove slowly past Sam Altman’s Russian Hill home. The car had already passed the house once before, minutes earlier. As the vehicle came around again, the person in the passenger seat extended their hand out of the window and appeared to fire a shot toward the Lombard Street side of the property, according to a police report citing surveillance footage and accounts from the compound’s own security staff, who said they heard a gunshot. The car then sped away. However, a security camera captured the vehicle’s licence plate, giving investigators a crucial lead. Police traced the car to 25-year-old Amanda Tom of San Francisco. Officers went to the 2000 block of Taylor Street and detained Tom and her companion, 23-year-old Muhamad Tarik Hussein, without any struggle. A search of the home turned up three firearms, which were seized by police. Both Tom and Hussein were taken to San Francisco County Jail and formally charged with negligent discharge of a firearm under California Penal Code 246.3.

Security guards at the property put out the fire, and the entire incident was recorded on camera.Shortly after the Friday attack, security staff at OpenAI’s headquarters in the Mission Bay neighbourhood made contact with a person matching Moreno-Gama’s description.
