Ukraine awaits Moscow’s response to a revised 20-point peace proposal developed with the United States as part of diplomatic efforts to end nearly four years of war. The proposal has been sent to Russian negotiators and Kyiv is expecting Moscow’s reaction today. Zelenskyy briefed journalists on each point and noted discussions continue.

Key elements of the draft plan include:

  • Recognition of Ukraine’s sovereignty and security guarantees from the U.S. and Europe
  • A legally binding non-aggression pact
  • Possible demilitarised zones and ceasefire mechanisms
  • Economic aid and reconstruction frameworks
  • Ongoing disputes over territorial control and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant remain unresolved.

Zelenskyy has also indicated some possible flexibility about territorial arrangements like demilitarised zones in the east, although Russia has not formally accepted the plan yet.

Separately, talks in Miami between U.S., Ukrainian and European envoys have yielded draft documents on security guarantees and reconstruction, even as negotiations face pressure from conflicting demand

📌 In summary

  • Peace talks are active and a U.S.-backed peace plan is on the table, but Moscow’s stance and key differences over territory and security guarantees are still major stumbling blocks.
  • Fighting hasn’t stopped, with attacks causing deaths and widespread infrastructure damage even as negotiators try to find a diplomatic breakthrough.
  • Casualties continue on both sides, highlighting the urgent humanitarian stakes behind the diplomatic efforts.
