Parasakthi Box Office Collection Day 6: Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Parasakthi released in theatres on January 10 and after being in theatres for nearly a week, the film has made Rs 35.85 crore in India, as per trade tracker Sacnilk. The worldwide collection of the film stands at Rs 63.5 crore. On its sixth day, Parasakthi saw an uptick in its collections and earned Rs 5.1 crore as many parts of the country observed a holiday for Makar Sankranti. On the previous day, the film had only made Rs 2.55 crore.

Parasakthi released amid some haste as the makers received the film’s censor certificate only a day prior, and were asked to implement suggested changes before release. This made it difficult for them to open advance bookings before the release. The film was scheduled to release a day after Vijay’s Jana Nayagan but after that was delayed due to censor troubles, Parasakthi managed to get more screens in the state. The Sivakarthikeyan film opened at Rs 12.5 crore and even on the second day, it made Rs 10.1 crore. However, on the third day, the collections crashed massively as they only made Rs 3 crore.

Many films in the south have released during Pongal week. In Tamil, Karthi’s Vaa Vaathiyaar released on Tuesday. Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu released on Monday, and has already made over rs 100 crore. Ravi Teja’ Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi released on Tuesday. Prabhas’ The Raja Saab released on January 9, and gained a massive advantage at the box office, since it was the first to release during the festive season.

Parasakthi was expected to perform even better at the box office, since the film had no competition in the state, but it appears that the mixed reviews haven’t helped its case. The censor troubles might have also hampered the film as the suggested edits were made at the eleventh hour.

In an earlier chat with India Today, Sivakarthikeyan spoke about the same and said, “We received the changes at the last minute. After that, we had to make the suggested changes and upload them to QUBE. Our main focus was to release the film as we were chasing a release date. The Censor Board functions according to their own regulations, and we didn’t have time to analyse whether it was an advantage or disadvantage.” The actor said that since they were “running after a release date”, they made 25 cuts in just 10 hours while the “team functioned like a military camp.”
