TIRUPATI: The Sri Sathya Sai district police arrested and paraded a man who allegedly assaulted and injured a pregnant woman at Muthyalavari Palli in Tanakallu mandal on Tuesday.Kadiri DSP Siva Narayana Swamy identified the accused as Pushpala Ajay Deva (25). Police said Ajay and his family were celebrating former CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s birthday by bursting crackers outside their home, which angered neighbours.When P Sandhya Rani (29), who is six months pregnant, objected to the noise and asked them to move elsewhere, Ajay allegedly entered into an altercation, caught her by the neck, and kicked her in the stomach.Following her complaint, police registered a case and arrested Ajay. He was paraded on the streets as a warning. The DSP said the department treats crimes against women and children with utmost seriousness and strict action will follow.
