Jana Nayagan Trailer Out: The much-awaited trailer of Jana Nayagan, which is ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s final film before his political plunge, is finally out. Scheduled for release on January 9, the film, directed by H Vinoth, features Vijay in the role of a police officer.

In the over two-minutes-long trailer, Thalapathy Vijay plays the role of a father-like figure to Mamita Baiju’s character in the film. In one striking moment, the little girl compares him to Superman, asking in disbelief, “You alone fought an entire battalion—are you a Superman?” Vijay responds modestly, “I am an ordinary man, but people say whatever I do is super.”

Vijay’s character dreams of his daughter joining the army. However, she is held back by a deep-rooted phobia, which is eventually revealed to be connected to ‘Operation O.M’—a sinister plan masterminded by Bobby Deol, who poses a grave threat to India. Exuding menace, Bobby Deol’s character declares with pride, “On the 30th day, India will be at my feet.”

The film portrays Vijay as a man deeply loved by the masses, mirroring his real-life aura and subtly reflecting his ambitions of becoming the next big political force. The narrative builds toward a powerful conclusion, ending with Vijay delivering a chilling promise: “I am coming!”

He also takes a sharp dig at politicians, as he ties them up and beats them, declaring, “Instead of entering politics to serve the people selflessly, you barge into it to loot and destroy innocent lives!”

Known for his socially rooted and issue-driven storytelling, H Vinoth collaborates with Vijay for the first time in Jana Nayagan—a pairing that has already generated immense curiosity among fans and trade circles alike.

The anticipation surrounding the project intensified further following its grand audio launch in Malaysia, where Vijay delivered an emotional address to his fans. “I am giving up cinema for the fans who gave up everything for me,” he said, reinforcing the perception that Jana Nayagan is more than just a mass entertainer and is being positioned as a defining, statement-making film.

Sharing insights into the making of the film, Vinoth revealed that Jana Nayagan was shot over a 100-day schedule, with Vijay present on set for 84 days. Reflecting on the experience, the director told Cinema Vikatan, “It was like watching 84 Vijay films.” He went on to praise Vijay’s deep understanding of cinema, highlighting the actor’s command over lighting, lensing and shot composition—qualities that, according to Vinoth, make him a “director’s actor.”

The title Jana Nayagan, which translates to ‘People’s Leader,’ has inevitably fueled speculation about the film’s political undertones. However, Vinoth has remained deliberately cryptic, stating that audiences will only grasp the true meaning of the title after watching the film. Plot details continue to be closely guarded, adding to the intrigue.

Apart from Vijay, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani.
