Dubai saw one of its worst days in decades after it was caught in crossfire between Iran and joint US-Israel forces following Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death.Fresh blasts were heard across the Gulf city as defence systems repelled Iranian missiles and drones over its famous skyscrapers.According to AFP, thick black smoke rose on the clear morning horizon in the south of the city as Iranian strikes targeted military bases and civilian infrastructure across the Gulf.
Local authorities said four people were injured in a fire at Palm Jumeirah, the man-made island known for its luxury hotels and resorts. A high-end hotel was hit by parts of a missile that was either intercepted or knocked off its trajectory.
Israel attacks Iran
Dubai’s main airport, the world’s busiest aviation hub, was partially damaged by a suspected aerial strike on one of its terminal buildings.
