🚤 What Happened

A tour boat carrying 11 people — including Spanish tourists and Indonesian crew — sank Friday night in rough seas off Padar Island in Komodo National Park, Indonesia. The vessel was en route from Komodo Island to Padar Island when it suffered engine failure and capsized amid high waves.

🧑‍🚒 Search & Rescue Efforts

  • Indonesian authorities launched a large search and rescue operation involving the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS), navy vessels, inflatable boats, diving teams, and local fishermen.
  • Strong waves, rough seas and poor visibility at night forced rescuers to suspend operations Saturday evening, with plans to resume early Sunday.
