‘His wife harassed me’: Karnataka doctor dies by suicide over affair rumours with professor

Dr MU Nikitha, 23, an Ayurvedic doctor from Basava Layout, allegedly died by suicide Wednesday at Holalkere in Chitradurga district after she was distressed by rumours linking her with a professor at an Ayurvedic medical college.

CHITRADURGA: Dr MU Nikitha, 23, an Ayurvedic doctor from Basava Layout, allegedly died by suicide Wednesday at Holalkere in Chitradurga district after she was distressed by rumours linking her with a professor at an Ayurvedic medical college.She died by suicide in her room Wednesday afternoon, though the incident came to light only late at night.A death note was found at the scene, in which Nikitha said she was harassed by college students and the wife of a lecturer, which she said led to her suicide.In the note, she named some students and named the lecturer’s wife as those who harassed her.“During my training, I sought advice and information about treatment from a lecturer at the hospital. My classmates spread false rumours about an illicit relationship between us, which was untrue. They taunted me about it. Harassed by my friends, I am taking my own life,” Nikitha wrote.Police registered a case against teacher Raju, his wife Nisha and some students.
