NEW DELHI: Votes for five Assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha seat that went to bypolls recently will be counted on Friday, with the results expected to be declared through the day.The bypolls were held on Tuesday in five Assembly constituencies, Nandigram and Rejinagar in West Bengal, Madurantakam and Dharapuram in Tamil Nadu and Thattanchavady in Puducherry.The Nagaon Lok Sabha seat in Assam also went to polls.

The votes will be counted on Friday, with the counting process beginning at 8am.Results for all five Assembly constituencies and the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat will be announced as the counting progresses through the day.

Which constituencies went to bypolls?

The five Assembly seats that went to polls were:

  • Nandigram and Rejinagar in West Bengal
  • Madurantakam and Dharapuram in Tamil Nadu
  • Thattanchavady in Puducherry

The Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency in Assam also voted in the bypoll.Counting will take place under security arrangements at the respective counting centres, with the results expected to offer an indication of the electoral standing of the parties involved in these contests.
