Actor Nana Patekar was declared dead after being brought to Manipal Hospital in Goa.

PANAJI: Veteran actor Nana Patekar was “brought dead” to a hospital in Dona Paula, Goa, on Thursday following a suspected cardiac arrest. Dr Shekhar Salkar, the Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, said that the body has been sent to Goa Medical College for post-mortem.According to Salkar, Patekar, who was residing at his Dona Paula residence at the time had sent a message to his friend at around 2:30am saying that he was feeling uncomfortable and that there was “pain on the left side.”However, since it was nighttime, his friend could not see the message on time. Salkar shared that by the time the friend went to his house, it was around 4am.“He was gasping and sweating,” Salkar said. “He sent his caretaker to get an ambulance from us since we are closeby and our team went there with the ambulance and started CPR on him.”Salkar said that Patekar was shifted to the hospital on CPR however “it was too late.”“He was brought dead to the hospital at around 4:20am. We tried our best to give him CPR. We declared him dead at 5.20am. A medico-legal case was filed following the death. His body has been taken to Goa Medical College for a post-mortem examination.” he said.Salkar further added that Patekar’s family members were not present at the time, while his friends and the caretaker were with him.“We have informed his family,” Salkar added.Parekar has a home in Goa and on October 4, he was the chief guest at the installation ceremony of Rajshri Khandeparkar of Samrat International Club where he is said to have given a speech.
