'Racing, doing stunts': Kalyan Bainsla’s lawyer calls Gurgaon biker crash ‘negligence’, not hit-and-run
The lawyer claimed the bikers were also taunting and harassing other vehicles and provoking them to race or overtake.

GURGAON: The lawyer of accused car driver Kalyan Bainsla on Tuesday claimed the woman biker and other riders involved in the Golf Course Road crash were racing, speeding and performing stunts, arguing that the incident was a case of negligence and not hit-and-run.“They were racing against each other. There was a large group of bikers—about 20-30 riders. Instead of following road rules, they were speeding and performing stunts,” Bainsla’s advocate Naveen Bainsla told ANI.The lawyer claimed the bikers were also taunting and harassing other vehicles and provoking them to race or overtake.“The collision between the car and the bike occurred simply because of the speed at which they were driving. It is strictly a case of negligence—nothing more to it than that,” he said. The statement comes after Gurgaon Police arrested Kalyan Bainsla in connection with the case and added an attempt-to-murder charge to the FIR.Bainsla was arrested from Rajgarh in Rajasthan, Gurgaon police commissioner Sibash Kabiraj said.Police had registered the case at Sector 56 police station after a video of the incident went viral on social media on Monday.During the investigation, CCTV footage was analysed and Section 109 of the BNS, which deals with attempt to murder, was added, police said.Bainsla’s lawyer also denied allegations that the accused was drunk, saying the incident took place around 7am and that his family members were with him.“It was simply a case where both parties were at fault: the riders and him. They were racing at high speeds, lost control, and the vehicles collided,” the lawyer said.Bainsla, a gym owner who describes himself as an international kabaddi player, has earlier denied deliberately hitting the woman biker and said he was travelling with his sister and two cousins at the time.Sia has maintained that the car followed her and hit her motorcycle before leaving the spot.(With inputs from ANI)
