The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a major weather alert for nearly 20 states across the country, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over the next few days. The warning comes as active monsoon conditions continue to influence large parts of India.

According to weather officials, several northern, eastern, western, and southern states are likely to witness intense rainfall accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kmph in some regions.
