GURGAON: The owner of the car allegedly involved in the Gurgaon hit-and-run incident said a friend had borrowed his vehicle two days ago and that he learnt about the accident only on Monday morning.Speaking to ANI, Manish, the car owner, said the vehicle belonged to him and that he was at work when his friend Kalyan Singh took the car after saying he needed to go somewhere.“It is my vehicle. I was at work; a friend had borrowed my car. Kalyan Singh said he needed to go somewhere. He took it two days ago. I found out about the accident this morning,” Manish said.

Manish said he tried calling Singh after learning about the incident, but he did not answer. He added that he sent his father and others to Singh’s house.Manish said Singh was from Palwal district in Haryana and added, “I work in the Army.”The development comes after a woman biker, who identified herself as Sia, shared a video on Instagram alleging that a car repeatedly followed her before hitting her motorcycle and fleeing from the spot.Sia said the incident took place on Sunday while she was riding with friends from Golf Course Road towards Bikerburns.She alleged that the car’s occupants appeared to be drunk and that the driver asked her to stop despite her asking him to maintain distance.The video recorded by a camera mounted on her motorcycle appears to show the car coming into contact with her bike before driving away.Gurgaon Police has taken suo motu cognisance of the viral video and said the accused would be identified and arrested at the earliest. Police are registering a case under relevant sections at Sector 56 police station.“The accused will be identified and will be arrested at the earliest and strictest legal action will be taken against all those found involved,” police said.(With inputs from ANI)
