NEW DELHI: Two MLAs were among several people injured after a car crashed through a road divider and collided with an SUV at the ITO traffic signal in Delhi on Sunday night, police said.The accident occurred around 9:30 pm near the PWD office, in front of the old Police Headquarters. According to police, a Swift car travelling from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO hit the divider, crossed the railing and entered the opposite lane, where it collided with an Innova coming from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar.The Swift was being driven by 32-year-old Ashutosh Pandey, who was travelling with his wife and two minor children, police said.The Innova was carrying Anil Jha, the sitting MLA from Kirari assembly constituency in Delhi, and Abhay Patil, an MLA from Karnataka.“Today, at about 9:30 PM, a PCR call regarding a road traffic accident was received at PS I.P. Estate,” Delhi Police said. A preliminary inquiry found that the Swift lost control near the PWD office before crashing into the SUV.All those involved in the accident sustained minor injuries and were taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, police said. They were reported to be in stable condition.The collision caused significant damage to the front of the SUV. The fire brigade was called to the spot to help remove the damaged vehicles and restore traffic movement.
