VISAKHAPATNAM: A six-year-old boy collapsed and died in a classroom at a private school in the Town Kotharoad locality under One-Town police station limits in Vizag city on Thursday, with his family alleging that he was beaten by a woman teacher for not completing his homework.The deceased student was identified as Pranay Tej. The incident took place at Little Garden School.A video of the incident went viral on social media. The video shows the teacher admonishing the student and later slapping him. The boy then collapsed onto the teacher’s lap.Though the boy was taken to KG Hospital in Vizag city, doctors declared him dead.The parents and family members alleged that the boy collapsed after being beaten by the teacher.The family members staged a protest at KG Hospital, demanding stringent action against the teacher and the school management.Police and revenue officials visited the school and KG Hospital and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.Police said the exact medical cause of the student’s death is expected to be established only after the post-mortem report.HRD minister Nara Lokesh expressed deep condolences over the incident and said action would be initiated against the school management.
