US President Donald Trump threatened to strike Iran “harder”, accusing Tehran of causing trouble in Lebanon through “high-paid proxies.” Indicating the US strikes in Iran last week, he said Iran could face similar but stronger attacks. The message comes as US and Iran delegations meet in Switzerland for peace talks.In a post on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump wrote, “Iran must immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble. If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!!”

Trump blamed Iran for having proxies, causing the region to get destabilised, hinting at the recent retaliations to Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon.His message comes at a time when, in Switzerland, the Iranian and American delegations have been carrying out a four-party negotiation in the presence of Qatari mediators. Tehran and Washington delegations engaged in technical discussions over the recently finalised MoU, which was digitally signed by the two parties on Friday.Following the meeting, US vice president JD Vance addressed the Swiss media, indicating key stabilisation milestones in the discussions and assured that the framework regarding the Lebanon ceasefire has seen “great progress”He said, “We’ve seen great progress over the last couple of days in ensuring the ceasefire in Lebanon holds.”Meanwhile, Iran once again closed the Strait of Hormuz following Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon that killed over 25 people on Saturday. Following the same, Hezbollah also launched attacks against the IDF soldiers in the region, vowing to retaliate against any “hostilities from the enemy.”Israel and Lebanon are under a fragile ceasefire agreement, which the two sides reiterated their commitments towards while also accusing the other side of violating it.
