Meta laid off nearly 8,000 employees earlier this month as part of its latest workforce reduction. The layoffs began in Singapore, where at 4 am local time emails went out to workers who were being laid off. In the memo sent to affected employees, Meta acknowledged the added uncertainty faced by visa-sponsored workers and shared immigration-related guidance to help them navigate the situation. The memo directed impacted employees to the company’s Alumni Portal, where they could access legal support details and raise case-specific questions.
