India’s iconic luxury heritage train has created history by operating during Rajasthan’s intense summer season for the first time in more than four decades. The move breaks a long-standing tradition where luxury tourist trains usually suspended operations during peak summer due to extreme desert temperatures.

The famous luxury train, known for showcasing Rajasthan’s royal culture, palaces, forts, and heritage tourism, has traditionally operated only during cooler months between September and April. However, railway and tourism authorities decided to continue services this summer in an effort to attract more international and domestic tourists year-round.

Officials stated that rising global tourism demand, improved onboard cooling systems, upgraded luxury facilities, and growing interest in experiential travel influenced the decision. The train offers premium hospitality, royal-style interiors, fine dining, cultural performances, and guided tours across major destinations including Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, and other historic cities.

The summer operation is being viewed as a major experiment in India’s luxury tourism sector. Tourism experts believe it could help boost Rajasthan’s off-season tourism industry, increase hotel occupancy, and generate additional revenue for local businesses and travel services.

Despite temperatures crossing 44°C in several parts of Rajasthan, authorities expressed confidence that enhanced passenger comfort measures and modern air-conditioning technology would ensure a comfortable travel experience.

The development has gained nationwide attention as India continues promoting heritage tourism and premium travel experiences to attract high-value global tourists.
