Iran-US ceasefire details: Trump predicts 'positive action', 'big money' after truce; US to 'hang around' Strait of Hormuz
US President Donald Trump

A day after warning of wiping out Iran’s “whole civilization,” Donald Trump shifted course, announcing a ceasefire with Tehran, a deal he hailed as a “total and complete victory” after 38 days of Operation Epic Fury. However, Tehran offered a competing narrative. The Islamic Republic, led by Mojtaba Khamenei, also claimed victory, pointing to Washington’s acceptance of its 10-point proposal as proof of its battlefield and diplomatic success.

‘Big day for world peace’

Trump struck an upbeat note after reaching a ceasefire understanding with Iran, calling it a “big day” and hinting at both economic gains and a breakthrough in easing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.Positioning himself at the centre of efforts to stabilise the crucial shipping route, Trump signalled expectations of increased financial activity and a broader regional reset following the deal.Taking to Truth Social, he wrote: “A big day for World Peace! Iran wants it to happen, they’ve had enough! Likewise, so has everyone else! The United States of America will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz. There will be lots of positive action! Big money will be made. Iran can start the reconstruction process. We’ll be loading up with supplies of all kinds, and just “hangin’ around” in order to make sure that everything goes well. I feel confident that it will. Just like we are experiencing in the US, this could be the Golden Age of the Middle East!!!.”

Trump claims ‘total and complete victory’

As the truce took shape, Trump struck a confident tone. Speaking to AFP news agency, he said, “Total and complete victory. 100 percent. No question about it,” even as questions remain over how durable the deal will be.The ceasefire was agreed barely an hour before Trump’s deadline to escalate strikes expired. He described the framework as substantial, adding, “We have a 15 point transaction, of which most of those things have been agreed on. We’ll see what happens. We’ll see if it gets there.”

Uranium concerns and Hormuz focus

On Washington’s long-standing concern over Iran’s nuclear programme, Trump insisted there would be no loose ends. “That will be perfectly taken care of, or I wouldn’t have settled,” he said, without detailing how Tehran’s enriched uranium would be handled.Uncertainty also surrounds the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route central to the deal.

China, Pakistan roles in diplomacy

Trump suggested China may have nudged Iran toward talks. “I hear yes,” he said when asked about Beijing’s role. The ceasefire follows weeks of intense strikes involving the United States and Israel, with mediation led by Pakistan.

Israel backs truce, but with caveats

Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel supports the US-led ceasefire, though clarified it does not apply to its conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon.Pakistan, however, has claimed the agreement extends “everywhere,” including Lebanon, highlighting lingering ambiguity over the scope and stability of the truce.
