At least 21 people were killed in Karachi on Wednesday after strong winds and rain caused walls, several roofs, and trees to collapse in different parts of the city, police and rescue officials said. “The total number of people killed in accidents across the city has reached 21,” Rescue 1122 said in a statement, as they work to clear debris and search for more victims, according to Arab News.The country’s meteorological department added that the strong winds accompanied the rainfall, with speeds reaching up to 97 kilometres per hour in some areas, warning of unstable weather conditions.The deadliest incident took place in Moach Goth, a low-income area in Baldia Town, where 13 people were killed after a wall collapsed.

The deceased were standing next to the wall to protect themselves from the rain.Rescue 1122 shared details of other incidents across the city. In Qur’angi No. 3, a woman named Sheeta died after her house roof collapsed. In Memon Goth, a man named Hazrat died due to electrocution. A four-year-old girl died after a wall collapsed at her home in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. In Neelam Colony, a woman died after a tree fell on her house.
