The company said KC will help align people operations with its growth strategy, covering recruitment, performance systems and workforce development. OpenAI has appointed Arvind KC as its Chief People Officer, tasked with overseeing hiring, onboarding, development, and organisational systems as the company expands.
KC joins the artificial intelligence company after holding senior roles at Roblox, Google, Palantir Technologies and Meta, where he worked across engineering and people functions.
At OpenAI, he will focus on strengthening processes and policies to support collaboration and operational scale, the company said.
Focus on scaling people systems
The company said KC will help align people operations with its growth strategy, covering recruitment, performance systems and workforce development. The role will also involve shaping how teams adapt as AI tools become more embedded in daily work.“We believe the way we scale OpenAI should reflect the future we’re helping to create. KC will play a key role in ensuring our people processes, policies, and systems match our ambition, while preserving the culture and operating principles that have helped us get here,” said Fidji Simo, Chief Executive of Applications at OpenAI.
OpenAI said it aims to develop internal models for managing AI-enabled work and to share insights with customers and partners over time.
Adapting to AI-enabled work
The company added that the Chief People Officer would play a central role in navigating changes to job roles, skills development and re-skilling as AI adoption accelerates across industries.“This is a moment where every organisation is being asked to rethink how work happens, what teams need, how people grow, and how to adapt as the tools change. I’m excited to join OpenAI as we work through those questions ourselves, and alongside our ecosystem of users, customers, and partners building the future with us,” KC said.
The appointment comes as technology companies review workforce structures in response to advances in artificial intelligence and automation.>
