PUNE: CCTV footage has emerged showing the horrifying moments before a 5-year-old boy was struck by a speeding car inside Joy Nest Society in Loni Kalbhor on Monday evening. The accident occurred around 5 pm while the child, was playing with his bicycle within the society premises.According to Loni Kalbhor police, the car’s driver, a resident of Mundhwa Road, had entered the society to drop a friend in front of a building. The vehicle hit the boy, who was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital. Doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.The boy’s father, aged 40, has lodged a complaint against the driver, citing rash and negligent driving leading to death due to negligence.CCTV footage captures accidentThe society’s building surveillance system recorded the entire incident, now widely circulated on social media. The video shows kid riding his bicycle unaware of the incoming car, the vehicle striking him, the driver rushing out to provide assistance, and neighbours hurrying to help. The boy was then placed back into the same car and taken to hospital.Police officials said they are using the CCTV evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events, including determining the vehicle’s speed at the time of impact.Residents have expressed outrage over the incident, questioning how high-speed driving is allowed within residential society premises. Many are demanding strict action against the accused driver to ensure accountability and prevent similar tragedies.
