A 21-year-old final-year student from Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) has achieved a major milestone by securing a record-breaking international placement package, drawing nationwide attention during the current campus recruitment season.
The student, enrolled in the Computer Science and Engineering programme, received an overseas job offer with a compensation package reported to be among the highest ever secured by an IIT Hyderabad student. The offer was extended by a global trading and technology firm, following the student’s strong performance during a prior internship with the company.
According to institute sources, the offer came through a pre-placement offer (PPO) route, highlighting the growing importance of internships in leading to full-time global roles. Faculty members noted that the student demonstrated exceptional technical skills, problem-solving ability, and consistency during the internship period.
Officials at IIT Hyderabad described the achievement as a significant boost for the institute, especially in a year marked by cautious hiring trends across the technology sector. They added that such international placements underline the global demand for talent trained at India’s premier engineering institutions.
Education experts say the achievement reflects the strong foundation provided by IITs in advanced computing, algorithms, and real-world application of technology. The placement is also seen as a source of inspiration for aspiring engineering students across the country.
The student is expected to begin the role later this year, marking the start of an international professional career in the global technology and finance ecosystem.
