Mohali, Punjab — Authorities have announced a ₹1.40 crore expansion of the public library network in Mohali, aiming to improve access to reading resources, digital learning facilities, and community knowledge spaces across the district.
The initiative is designed to strengthen existing public libraries while adding new facilities in key areas to serve students, researchers, and the general public. The expansion will focus on upgrading infrastructure, increasing book collections, and introducing digital services such as e-libraries, internet access, and learning hubs.
Officials said the project is intended to promote reading habits, lifelong learning, and educational inclusion, particularly among youth and underserved communities. Modern seating, study areas, and technology-enabled resources are expected to be part of the upgraded library spaces.
The public library expansion is also seen as a step toward supporting academic growth and community engagement in Mohali, which has emerged as an important educational and technology hub in the region.
Work on the project is expected to begin shortly, with further details on locations and timelines to be announced as implementation progresses.
