With less than three weeks to go for the worldwide release of director H Vinoth’s Jana Nayagan, which marks ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s last film before his full-fledged political entry, both the makers and the actor’s fans have ramped up promotions, ensuring that this turns out to be the best farewell anyone could ever imagine. Vijay, meanwhile, is all set to kick off the promotions with an electrifying audio launch event, scheduled to take place at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Saturday (December 27).

Jana Nayagan music launch in Malaysia

Over the years, audio launches have become a tradition of sorts for Vijay, which fans look forward to most, since it’s one of the rare times they can witness him address them directly, also since he no longer gives one-on-one interviews as a star. Hence, these events typically see high turnout and become hot topics, contributing to the respective movie’s massive opening. Things were expected to reach another level this time, as this would be Vijay’s last appearance in a film star avatar and that too just months ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election, which he and his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), have set their sights on.

‘No political speeches’

However, according to the latest reports, the impending event may only witness a celebration of Jana Nayagan’s music and the movie at large, as the Malaysian police have imposed a ban on political speeches and symbols at the venue. Quoting local media, Hindustan Times reported that the authorities concerned have warned of strict action against violators. They have demanded that the concert be strictly an entertainment event, and not a platform for political messages or activities. Cheras District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan pointed out that the ban pertains to speeches, symbols, materials, movements, convoys, and/or live broadcasts that carry political messages, whether in or around the venue.

According to Malaysia Gazette, Malik Streams Corporation, which is distributing Jana Nayagan in the country and organising the event, expects the attendance of about 90,000 people. The company’s CEO, Datuk Abdul Malik Dashtigeer, has affirmed that the “Thalapathy Thiruvizha” concert, headlined by Jana Nayagan’s music composer Anirudh Ravichander, will solely be an entertainment event, devoid of any political agenda.
