Heavy fighting continues along the disputed Cambodia–Thailand border, with both sides trading accusations of violating a ceasefire that was recently announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. Cambodia’s Defence Ministry has accused **Thai forces — including F-16 fighter jets — of continuing to bomb targets inside Cambodian territory hours after the truce was declared, including strikes in Pursat province that hit hotels and bridges.
Thailand, however, rejects Cambodia’s claims of a ceasefire agreement, saying its military is responding to alleged breaches by Cambodian forces. Bangkok has accused Cambodia of targeting civilian areas and laying new landmines, claims Phnom Penh denies.
Fighting, which reignited earlier this month, has involved artillery exchanges, airstrikes, and ground skirmishes along the 817-km border. The conflict has forced hundreds of thousands of civilians to flee their homes, destroyed infrastructure on both sides, and led to dozens of deaths and injuries.
Efforts at diplomacy, including an earlier peace accord signed in Kuala Lumpur in October under U.S. and ASEAN mediation, have failed to stop the hostilities. Both countries maintain they are defending their sovereignty, and international calls for restraint and renewed negotiations continue amid fears of a wider regional escalation.
