Swiggy has rolled out Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration across its platforms, enabling users to order food, shop on Instamart and make dining reservations directly through conversational AI tools.
With this move, users can interact with AI assistants to search restaurants, browse menus, compare products, add items to carts, apply offers and track deliveries without navigating the Swiggy app. The integration spans Swiggy Food, Instamart and Dineout, marking a step towards AI-native commerce experiences.
Swiggy said its quick-commerce arm Instamart is the first in the segment globally to adopt MCP, allowing AI-driven access to more than 40,000 products across grocery and daily essentials. The framework allows large language models to securely connect with Swiggy’s systems and execute transactions end to end.
The Model Context Protocol is an open-source standard that enables AI agents to interact with live platforms in real time, performing tasks such as placing orders, managing carts and handling checkouts. Swiggy said the integration is designed to simplify decision-making for users by shifting routine actions to conversational interfaces.
According to the company, the initiative reflects a growing shift towards agentic AI, where digital assistants manage complex workflows based on user intent rather than fixed app-based navigation.
Swiggy added that the MCP integration also lays the groundwork for future use cases such as personalised meal planning, dietary-based shopping and context-driven ordering, while maintaining data security and user privacy.
