Parasakthi box office collection day 4: With Jana Nayagan abruptly postponed, Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Parasakthi was widely expected to emerge as the Sankranti box office winner, with nearly Rs 150 crore riding on it. However, the film witnessed a sharp decline as early as its second day, with collections worsening over the third and fourth days. After opening at Rs 12.5 crore, the Sudha Kongara directorial earned just Rs 2.40 crore on its fourth day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film’s four-day total now stands at Rs 28 crore, making its chances of reaching the break-even point increasingly bleak.
On Tuesday, Parasakthi recorded an overall Tamil occupancy of just 12.50%, with most footfalls coming during night shows. Despite facing no major box office competition, the film was running in only 1,424 shows across India—down from 2,037 shows on its opening day. Owing to its underwhelming performance, as many as 613 shows were reportedly dropped.
Meanwhile, Sharwanand’s Nari Nari Naduma Murari is set to hit screens today. Made on a moderate budget, the film is expected to benefit from the festive window and put up healthy numbers.

If Parasakthi ultimately fails to recover, it would mark Sivakarthikeyan’s second consecutive box office disappointment. His last hit was the Pongal 2025 release Amaran, which went on to collect over Rs 300 crore worldwide. The film also starred Sai Pallavi in a lead role.

Much like Jana Nayagan, Parasakthi was mired in uncertainty until the eleventh hour, with the Central Board of Film Certification clearing it for release only after ordering over 25 cuts and awarding it a UA16+ certificate.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sudha Kongara—who had earlier described the censor board as “democratic” and “fair”—later expressed her anguish over the process. She said, “When I did that interview, I had not received the cut list. I was only told that I would be certified and that there would be audio cuts. Two days before release, I got the cut list at 11 AM, and I had just one day to make the changes and submit the film because the next day was release. Where is the time to fight this cut list?”
She also claimed targetted attacks online, largely from Vijay’s fans. The film was supposed to clash at the box office with Jana Nayagan which was later postponed as it failed to get the required CBFC certification. She quoted a threatening post from X that she said originated from a fan account of Vijay. The post, shared by the handle BlastingTamilCinema, read: “CBFC kitta Certificate vangurathu perusu illa ..Anna fans kitta Sorry keetu, Apology Certificate vaangu… Innum 1 week iruku, avanga manichu vitta #Parasakthi oodum (It is not a big deal to get a CBFC certificate. Apologise to fans of Anna, Vijay, and get the ahat apology certificate. There is one more week. They will forgive you. Parasakthi will run).”
