There were several reports suggesting that Aamir Khan had stepped away from Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film. However, the actor has now shut down the speculation and confirmed his involvement in the much-talked-about project. In a recent interview, he revealed that discussions between the two are ongoing and that the narration will take place in Mumbai soon.

During a conversation with Sonal Kalra at an HT event Delhi, Aamir opened up about the highly-anticipated collaboration and said, “Lokesh and I are supposed to meet. Last month we spoke and he said he is coming to Mumbai at some point. We will go through the narration. As of now, it is on the cards.”

Aamir Khan was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role. It was a standalone film and not a part of Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). The actor’s latest confirmation quashes reports claiming the project had been shelved after Aamir’s cameo in Coolie received an average response. Lokesh is known for blockbusters like Vikram, Leo, Master, and Kaithi. His untitled action-superhero film with Aamir will mark his Bollywood debut.

Earlier, during a conversation with  The Hollywood Reporter India, Lokesh had opened up about his experience of working with Aamir Khan and their upcoming project. The director said, “We actually did not want to let the world know that Aamir sir is a part of Coolie. That’s why we shot with him somewhere else and didn’t let any news come out. But there were speculations and talks. Then Aamir sir called me and said, ‘Lokesh, I can’t keep lying in front of the camera.”

He added, “I’ve been doing it from morning for my film (Sitaare Zameen Par). Can I just say it?’ Hearing this, I was like, ‘Please say it, sir. It’s not a world secret. I’ll talk to the production house.’ So, I told Sun Pictures, let’s release a poster featuring Aamir sir and let the news out. Films are made for people, you can’t keep them tightly under wraps all the time.”
